INTERPRETATIONS

A new WAPC group has been formed called INTERPRETATIONS.

Have you been wanting to make some art, but need some inspiration or maybe some motivation in the form of a deadline? We've got both. Each month a prompt will be provided, based on a Biblical story, verse or theme. You may interpret the prompt in whatever form or medium you choose - drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, fiber. It could even be music or poetry. After receiving the prompt, you will have a month to create. We will then meet together at the church to share and discuss our interpretations. No experience necessary!

As part of the Growth Committee this group began meeting in June 2024 and the date/time was set for the first Tuesday evening of each month beginning at 7 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall. A prompt for the theme is announced for the following month at the end of each meeting. The current prompt for July 2026 is “Shadows.” Lots of possibilities there. See you on Tuesday, July 7th!! Earlier this year the group explored the prompts: “Be Still” in January; “I Got Rhythm “ in February and March; “Ekphrasis” in April; “Fruit” in May; and “Memory Lane” in June.

Guidelines are issued to give you ideas on how to interpret or construct your project, often citing examples. Where you take each theme is up to you to decide. You are welcome to join us and add your voice to the conversation. The sky’s the limit!
